Suspended jail term over child porn at work

An Adelaide man who downloaded child pornography on his work computer has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Mauro Bonifazi, 40 of Burnside, used his workstation to access more than 200 images of child pornography.

He was caught after his employer put his computer under surveillance.

District Court judge Andrea Simpson said the images involved boys between eight and 14, many engaged in sexual acts.

But the judge accepted a psychologist’s report that Bonifazi had downloaded the child pornography out of “curiosity and boredom rather than for any prurient purpose”.

She said Bonifazi was deeply ashamed of what he had done and was unlikely to offend again.

She suspended his four-month prison term.
