A 47-year-old former police officer and Minister of Religion has been jailed for two years for possessing what has been described as hard core images of child pornography

David Hill was a senior constable when police found the images of children as young as six on his home computer.

Police also found an 11 minute video of two young girls being abused on the hard-drive of his computer

The District Court was told that since being charged Hill had sought psychological counselling and was trying to overcome an addiction to adult pornography

Judge Mary-Anne Yates said the crime was too serious to suspend the jail term.

Hill will have to serve a year before being eligible for parole.
