A Brisbane man has been jailed for possessing what has been described as the worst kind of child pornography.

Gary John Hockaday, 40, pleaded guilty in the District Court in Brisbane to two counts of possessing child exploitation material.

Prosecutor Philip McCarthy told the court, Hockaday was arrested last year after police raided his home.

They uncovered a computer hard drive and 11 DVDs with more than 30,000 images and videos of children being abused.

Mr McCarthy says the material included infants being forced to engage in acts of sadism, torture and bestiality.

Tony Kimmins for Hockaday says a psychologist report indicates his client is unlikely to reoffend.

Judge Keith Dodds jailed Hockaday for a year, to be suspended after three months.

He also placed Hockaday on two years’ probation.
