A serial paedophile has been sentenced to another five years in jail for indecently assaulting two boys.

The District Court in Adelaide heard Denis Norman Horstmann, 58, befriended the victims’ grandparents in 2003 and took the boys to his house to look at his motorbike.

He pleaded guilty to indecently assaulted the brothers, 12 and eight.

Horstmann is currently serving a five-year jail sentence for indecently assaulting a 16-year-old boy who he also met by befriending the victim’s grandparents.

Horstmann’s non-parole term has been extended from three years to six.

PEDOPHILE Dennis Norman Horstmann finished a sexual offender rehabilitation program in early 2001 – but just three months later he was already grooming his next teenage victim.

Horstmann, 57, was yesterday jailed for five years for sexually abusing the boy when he was 15 and 16 in 2004.

Horstmann spent three years winning the boy’s trust, taking him camping and paying for his membership at a squash club. It was after a squash game that Horstmann made his move, as he gave the boy a massage.

Horstmann had been jailed for seven years in 1994 for sexually abusing two boys aged under 12, and received a suspended sentence for sex offences against another young boy in the 1980s.

Judge Steven Millsteed said Horstmann began meeting his latest victim three months after finishing a sexual offenders treatment program.

Judge Millstead rejected personal references that Horstmann was a kind, caring and considerate man.

“It must be remembered that this is the very persona by which you have masked your sexual offending,” Judge Millsteed said.

Horstmann will be eligible for release on parole after serving three years of his five-year sentence.

Victim groomed despite program

A REPEAT pedophile has been jailed for five years for abusing a teenage boy who he began grooming for sex just months after completing a sexual offender rehabilitation program.

Dennis Norman Horstmann, 57, stood impassively in the dock of the District Court today as he was jailed for five counts of indecent assault against the boy in 2004.

Judge Steven Millsteed said Horstmann met his victim in 2001 through family friends, then won his trust by playing squash and taking him and friends camping.

In 2004, Horstmann first indecently assaulted the boy while giving him a massage after a squash game.

After masturbating the boy, Horstmann told him: “`That’s enough, that will do … you lasted well for your first time, you will make a good lover.”

Horstmann told the boy that what had happened did not make him gay and later voluntarily stopped the sexual abuse against the teenager.

Judge Millsteed said Horstmann had been jailed for seven years in 1994 for sexually abusing two boys aged under twelve, and received a suspended sentence in 1999 for sex offences against a boy aged between 12 and 16 in the 1980s.

Horstmann began meeting with his latest victim three months after finishing a sexual offenders treatment program and a psychiatrist has declared him a “homosexual pedophile” who remains a risk of reoffending.

Judge Millsteed said he took into account Horstmann’s guilty plea and the fact that he had stopped abusing the boy before he was caught.

However the judge said he could not put too much weight on a series of references from friends who described Horstmann as a kind, caring and considerate man.

“It must be remembered that this is the very persona by which you have masked your sexual offending,” Judge Millsteed said.

Horstmann was jailed for a total of five years – reduced from seven years because of his guilty plea and time served while on remand.

He will be eligible for release on parole after serving three years behind bars.

Horstmann’s siser & brother in law i believe gave him opportunity to work cleaning bus shelters as they owned a bus business which probably gave him the opportunity to prey on many more victims which we will never know the true amount of his crimes. As we all know many victims feel to ashamed to come forward and will be scarred for life.

I knew this complete disgusting excuse of a man. I hope he dies in jail. Very convincing liar.
Thank goodness my children weren’t born at the time. Rot in hell.
