PEDOPHILE Terry John Kondos will carry stark memories of public condemnation of his many crimes against children when he is released from jail.

Supreme Court Justice Debbie Mullins ordered Kondos be supervised for the next 10 years after he is released from jail this month under a Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act supervision order.

In 1995, Kondos, 48, was jailed for 14 years on charges including indecent dealing, exposing children to indecent acts, maintaining sexual relationships with children under 16 and stupefying with intent to indecently deal.

During a nine years’ period which ended in 1992, Kondos molested seven boys, who were aged between 12 and 16.

Each of the boys were from broken or disadvantaged homes and were befriended by Kondos.

Before he was sentenced in 1995, Kondos made headlines when he was attacked by other prisoners in the Southport Watchhouse.

Prisoners hurled urine and other objects at Kondos and the attack led to a major debate in State Parliament about watchhouse security.

The Attorney-General Kerry Shine went to the Supreme Court this week to get a supervision order for Kondos’s impending release.

Justice Mullins said a supervision order would ensure adequate protection for the community and she listed 36 separate conditions for Kondos’s release.
