Woman who admitted to sex with teen avoids jail

A Tasmanian woman who admitted to having sex with a 16-year-old boy has escaped a jail term.

Deanne Krambousanos, 36, pleaded guilty to four counts of having sex with a young person over a three-week period last year.

Krambousanos met the boy through his older sister.

The Hobart Criminal Court heard the first time Krambousanos had sex with the boy, he and his sister were staying at her house.

She drank heavily before making sexual advances towards the teenager.

The pair had sex another three times over three weeks before the boy’s sister told their mother.

Justice Peter Evans said the boy’s victim impact statement did not indicate any lasting effects from the abuse.

Justice Evans acknowledged Krambousanos did not use force or breach a position of trust, but said she was more than twice the boy’s age and he was a guest in her house.

Krambousanos received a six-month jail term, suspended on the condition of good behaviour.
