Man admits offering under-16 money for sex video

March 16, 2005 – 3:05PM

A man paid a teenage girl to appear in a sex video with him and then allowed other girls to watch the footage, a Brisbane court was told today.

Stephen Anthony O’Sullivan, 52, from Sunnybank Hills in Brisbane, pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court to six counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and one count each of carnal knowledge, possession of an objectionable film, making an objectionable film and attempted indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Crown prosecutor Victoria Trafford-Walker told the court that O’Sullivan was a friend of the girl’s mother and began molesting the girl in 1999.

It was not long, she said, before he started asking her to appear in a sex video with him for money.

She agreed and at one point he stopped the film and said she would not get paid unless she had sex with him.

“This is an extremely serious form of an offence against a child who was in need of protection and not seduction,” said Ms Trafford-Walker.

“He allowed other girls to see the footage, which only contributed to her further degradation.”

Patrick Donaldson, for O’Sullivan, said the girl was using the money she was being paid to support her heroin and speed habit.

Judge Garry Forno adjourned his sentence.
