Posted Tue May 29, 2007 1:42pm AEST

Western Australia’s court of appeal has increased the jail term imposed on a man who sexually abused teenage girls he met through internet chat rooms.

Thirty five year old Stephen Ashley Rock was originally sentenced to six years in jail after being found guilty of abusing three girls, aged 14 and 15.

The offences occurred at his home which he now stands to lose under WA’s property confiscation laws.

Today, the appeal court has ruled Rock’s sentence should be increased to eight years because of the serious nature of his offending.

At the completion of his sentence, Rock will have to serve a 12 month jail term for possessing child pornography.

His earliest release date is in 2013.
