A former teacher at Sydney’s Knox Grammar School has been given a good behaviour bond for a sex offence

against a former student.

Fifty-five-year-old Damien Vance is one of five men charged with sex offences against former pupils at the

school dating back to the 1970s.

He was extradited from Melbourne to be charged.

The court heard that in 1987 he incited a 14-year-old male boarder to commit an act of indecency.

A local court magistrate has given him a two-year good behaviour bond.

The magistrate said the offence was serious in that it was incitement to young boy under the authority of a

But he said other than the offer of a cigarette and conversation, nothing further occurred.

The magistrate said there was no touching and that the offender cannot be labelled a paedophile.
