Two years jail for child porn

CHILD pornographer Quentin Maurice Dohnt was yesterday sentenced to a two-year jail term for his “pernicious evil”.

The bankrupted tyre salesman distributed more than 800 child bondage photos over the internet.

Judge Malcolm Robertson further ordered Dohnt to remain under close supervision for a further 15 months after his release.

“Society is revolted by child pornography, a pernicious evil,” Judge Robertson said. “This is not a victimless crime – the victims are innocent children who have been violated and degraded in the course of creating pornography.

“You collected these images, and passed them on, for your own perverted personal gratification.”

Dohnt, 49, of Warradale, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and to transmitting it over the internet. Between September, 2005, and July, 2006, Dohnt transmitted 813 images over the internet.

Judge Robertson ordered Dohnt be released after 14 months.

He said Dohnt would remain under community supervision for a further 15 months, but would go back to jail if he offended again.

‘Evil’ pornographer jailed

SEAN FEWSTER, COURT REPORTER

May 01, 2007 11:30am

A PORNOGRAPHER who distributed more than 800 images of child bondage over the internet has been jailed for his “pernicious evil”.

In the District Court today, Quentin Maurice Dohnt was ordered to serve two years’ jail.

Judge Malcolm Robertson further ordered he remain under close supervision for a further 15 months after his release.

“Society is revolted by child pornography, a pernicious evil,” he said.

Between September 2005 and July 2006, Dohnt transmitted 813 images over the internet.

His computer hard drive contained a further 211 images, while 1039 more were found on two CDs.

“The images consisted of children aged 18 months to 16 years,” Judge Robertson said.

“Some were of the worst category, involving children being subjected to abuse while being restrained in some form.”

He said Dohnt used aliases to send images to other people “in order to receive more in return”.

The father-of-two had sought to rehabilitate himself, but psychologists said his chances of success were “only fair”.

“The internet has provided great benefits … but also has a dark side, that being the transmission of child pornography,” he said.

“Child pornography creates a market for the exploitation of children … the courts need to send a message to people such as yourself.”

Judge Robertson jailed Dohnt for two years, ordering he be released after 14 months.

He said Dohnt would remain under community supervision for a further 15 months, but would go back to jail if he offended again.
