Disabled boy’s abuser jailed

Updated Mon Aug 14, 2006 2:14pm AEST

A child sex offender will spend at least the next five years behind bars for sexually assaulting an intellectually disabled 14-year-old boy.

Peter Lewis Dunne, 42, pleaded guilty to charges including indecently dealing with and the sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.

He lured the boy to a derelict building in Rockingham, south of Perth, in December last year.

Dunne then blindfolded the boy and assaulted him.

The offences occurred while Dunne was on bail for similar offences committed nearly 20 years ago.

In sentencing, District Court Judge Philip McCann said the man deliberately cultivated a friendship with the boy in order to gain his consent, which turned to violence when he resisted.

Dunne has been sentenced to seven-and-a-half years’ jail but will be eligible for parole in five years.
